Quick Guide to TextShelf
To contact either TextShelf or your inbox organizers, please sign up / sign in and select the 'Contact' link at the top of the page.
Organizers: Getting Started
- Click or tap the icon
- Press the 'Add' button
On the invite page, you can add the email addresses of people you'd like to be reviewers, co-organizers, or invited entrants. Take care when entering emails: a typo or incorrect address could accidentally give access to someone you don't know.
The 'invite' form can, optionally, send an email invitation to the people you add here. There is a chance this invitation will end up in a spam folder, but, when it works, the message makes it easy for the people you invite to navigate to your submissions inbox.
You can assign entries to your newly invited reviewers, even before they have signed up. How? After submitting the invite form, you'll see a list of everyone you have invited. (If not: click the icon, and choose 'Invited' from the dropdown menu.) On the 'Invited' page, click the button next to the person to whom you want to assign entries.
Tip: hold off sending email invitations to new reviewers until you've assigned them some entries for review. By doing so, your new reviewers will more easily see how the site works, and get started right away.
Prospective entrants do not need to have an invitation to submit an entry; they just need the url address of your TextShelf inbox. To find your url address, click on the icon. The address will appear at the top of the page. As an organizer you can optionally invite prospective entrants via the 'invite' page; invites make it easy to find your inbox.
One, assign reviewers to an entry:
- Click or tap the icon
- Select the ‘Reviewers' button next to an entry
Two, assign entries to a reviewer:
- Click or tap the icon
- select the button next to a person's name (button appears for 'reviewers' only)
Three, Make Batch Assigments:
- Click or tap the settings icon
- select the 'Assignments' option
On the Assignments page, you'll find options to assign a batch of entries to reviewers, e.g., assigning x number of different entries to each reviewer.
Reviewers: Getting Started
Signup & Sign in Please start by signing up at either textshelf.com or jchambersprize.org. Signup is free; TextShelf keeps signup information private and protected from ads, online tracking, and spam (see our Privacy Policy). If you use a Gmail address we recommend using the 'sign up via Google' option, just to avoid having one more password to remember.
Finding Entries Assigned for Your Review Once you are signed in, you should see a 'Review' tab, possibly with a green badge next to it like this: Review. That's where you'll find entries assigned to you. The green badge signals that you have entries assigned to you. Click or tap the 'Review' tab to get started reviewing assigned entries.
You have signed in, and don't see a 'Review' tab?
You may need to contact organizers, who may need to re-register you as a reviewer. It could be that your address was entered with a spelling error, or there was a mismatch between the email address you signed in with and the email address organizers had entered for you, or... organizers just need more time to enter your info.
Writing Reviews Below each entry assigned to you, you'll find a form to enter your assessments. By default, reviews are automatically shared with inbox organizers only, and not shared with entrants. Organizers may setup an open review process where reviewers can read each other's reviews. If so, this will be stated above the review form.
Please Respect Author Privacy & Copyrights. Unless stated otherwise, please do not share, cite or quote from submitted entries. If you download an entry, please remember to delete files when you are done.
